An Evening in Good Taste: Inside The BLAC Card’s Private Karaoke Experience

Some nights are loud.
Some nights are busy.
Some nights are just… events.
And then there are nights designed for people who are intentional about where they go, who they spend time with, and how they experience a room.
The BLAC Card was created for exactly that kind of person.

Our first gathering isn’t about spectacle. It isn’t about overcrowded spaces or performative nightlife. It’s about atmosphere. Familiar music. Beautiful surroundings. The ease that comes when everyone in the room is there for the same reason, to enjoy themselves properly.
For our debut experience, we chose something timeless, social, and disarming in the best way: private karaoke, hosted in the Signature Suite at U9, Mayfair. An intimate, design-led space that feels more like a private members’ lounge than a typical night out. Low lighting. Good sound. Close energy. The kind of room where conversations happen naturally and the night unfolds without effort.
Because luxury, to us, isn’t about distance. It’s about comfort in beautiful spaces.
The Style of the Night
This is a dressed-up but relaxed room. Effortless, considered, and grown.
Think:
Evening ready
Stylish but comfortable
Statement pieces
welcome Tailoring
elevated casual or after-dark chic
You don’t need to overthink it — but this is definitely a “you cared when you got dressed” kind of night.
Why Karaoke! And Why For This Crowd
Karaoke, at its best, is about shared cultural memory. The songs we sing carry years of life inside them — R&B that sound tracked relationships, hip-hop that defined eras, Afro beats that moved through celebrations, and throwbacks that instantly place you in a moment.
But this isn’t stage karaoke. It’s social karaoke. Intimate. Supportive. Light-hearted.
Some people will sing solo. Some people will sing together. Some people will never touch the mic.
And all of that is the point.
This is a room where singing in groups is not only welcome, it’s expected. Because some songs are never meant to be sung alone.
For the Over-30 Crowd, Intentionally
This night is curated for a grown room. People who understand pacing. People who enjoy good conversation as much as good music. People who know how to enjoy a drink, a meal, and a moment without needing chaos around them.
Over-30 doesn’t mean serious. It means self-assured. It means present. It means knowing exactly what kind of energy you want to be around.
If You Don’t Want to Sing, Come Anyway
Let’s say this plainly.
You do not have to sing.
You can come for:
The food
The music
The conversation
The atmosphere
The people
The feeling of being somewhere intentional
Some of the best nights happen when you’re just watching the room, glass in hand, singing quietly to yourself and realising you’re exactly where you want to be.
Food, Drinks, and Flow
Complimentary food and drinks are included because hosting properly matters to us. The night should feel easy. Taken care of. Seamless. You arrive, you settle in, and the evening unfolds around you.
The Kind of Night That Starts Something
This first BLAC Card event is about setting a tone.
Rooms that feel curated but warm. Spaces that celebrate Black culture without needing explanation. Experiences that feel premium without feeling distant. Moments where connection happens naturally.
Because sometimes community doesn’t start with introductions.
Sometimes it starts with a song everyone knows, a room that feels right, and the quiet confidence of knowing you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
